It is with regret that we announce the passing of Robert Hanson.
Robert was a member of Dubbo CREST from the early years of the organisation. He held the position
of Operations Director, Dubbo Division for a considerable time.
In this position he was responsible for the monitoring activities and the smooth running of any
communication events to assist the community. These events ranged from Fun Runs, Car Rallies,
Emergency exercises with the Ambulance and a visit by the Queen.
Robert also took a lead role in the setting up of a remote linked base on Mt Sappa Bulga to enable
a greater area of coverage for the monitoring of the emergency frequency on UHF CB. This system
covered the area between Wellington and Nyngan.
He was also the driving force behind the setting up of the CREST Base and State Training Centre
in Dubbo.
Robert is survived by Trudy, 3 children and grandchildren. Trudy has run NALAG for many years
and they have been a strength to each other.
The funeral was held in Dubbo on Friday 9 June 2023 at St Brigids Catholic
